The debate of content vs. SEO is never-ending. And I don’t want to write another article favoring either of them. So, for a while, let’s consider both are equally important factors affecting the growth of your blog.

Content is important to hook people and engross them to read on. However, I have come across numerous blogs that post very boring articles every day. Though I haven’t got any mails asking about “how to hook readers”, I thought of writing it on instinct.

First two paragraphs of you blog post are most important elements of your article. People stop by, read it, find it boring, they leave. Hence, it’s very crucial to hook your readers in first two paragraphs itself.

Let me tell you few things you can do to make your article (or at least the start of your article) a bit more interesting.

Start with a story

If you don’t know, let me tell you, people just love stories, especially the ones with important messages. However, make sure you enter relevant stories. Don’t describe intimate scenes of Romeo & Juliet and switch to stock market news.

And please, don’t use repeated stories. Coming up with new ones isn’t difficult. Whenever something funny happens to you or some other thing that you can include in your blog, note it down. Put some interesting twists and important messages in it and post it on your blog.

A Problem

People are always searching for solutions. And there cannot be any solutions, if you don’t have problems. So, if your post is offering some advice, or tips, or any other important message, create a problem. Exaggerate, if required. But let people know about the depth-ness of the problem and its possible consequences.

You solution would definitely be appreciated. If you don’t get ideas, watch TV commercials for an hour. Almost every commercial begins with a problem and ends with a solution, which is always their product. Apply the same principle to hook your readers.

Create curiosity

Almost 80% of links on the web are clicked by users because they are curious about it. Getting something else out of it and being disappointed is altogether a different story. And are you aware that I just made up statistics? And are you aware that I just created curiosity in you? That’s the power of creating curiosity – one goes on reading till he finds a satisfactory answer. It’s human nature.

So, you can start your post by writing something that’s not known by most of the internet users, some facts, or some news, any thing.

That’s it. For god’s sake, try to be interesting. Don’t bore your readers.

We may truly be contended and enriched, the way we are handling our blogs. Even if you take steps to update your blog on a regular basis there might be some things, which may have proved otherwise, like posting your blog on irregular basis may have attracted more attention. People don’t always get time to read your blogs on a regular basis so the day you don’t post might sound beneficial to them as they can easily cope up with the lost day. All the more, it attracts even more attention from them; here are some of the pros and cons of blogging, which may be beneficial, when you post regularly or irregularly:

It’s not the best content after all:

Writing requires a lots motivation and hard work in gathering information you want to share with your users. The time you do not feel motivated, you cannot write your best possible posts. If you have nothing to say today to your community, do not try too hard to give them just anything out of box, which they may not like. The users can easily read your written thoughts, so if you write forcibly they will understand that too.

Do other chores:

The time that you are going to spend writing unjustified posts, why not use that time in some productive uses. The only important thing I want to share with you is that you can dedicate the important time you have in some other important purposes which needs attention.

Negative impact:

It is a straight deal, if you cannot gather useful information or write creative stuff for your audience, it means a poor quality content, which may harm your reputation; you may have to regret for your actions, more likely you will create disinterest amongst the users.

More time:

Its better that you do not force yourself in to writing unnecessary blogs without a thing to write on. Spare that time in preparing a good post by collecting useful information and writing things that your users want to read. Creative posts are always appraised so even if you fail giving them article one day, it is okay with them.

Relax:

Blogging is just not one of the careers most bloggers are doing today and all of our day’s time goes in either blogging or going to office. So occasionally, when you do not have anything to put your hand on just sit back and relax and enjoy the free moment. Sometimes relaxation helps to give you much more ideas then you usually do not get while you are working non-stop.

You might be a little confused about what to follow, if you are still brushing your brains to think what you should be doing then I suggest go on with the usual way you are doing right now. There are some occasional times in everyone’s life where you do not seem to get time writing for blogs, for those times you can follow the above discussed points. You had be more than satisfied that you left one day writing your posts!

Although this may sound a little awkward to think of at first, but once you read my whole article I am sure you are going to love my advice. As bloggers, we might do the best possible things like putting the fresh content on our blogs each day, with unique designs, themes, services, all agreed, but there comes a time when you almost feel like getting away. In such cases, you surely cannot leave your blog half way and hideaway in the bushes. You might not know it yourself, but its surely a mind game playing tricks with you, you belong to a particular niche and are writing for the stuff you specialized in but what makes you turn them off now? It’s a human nature, as you get more deeper in your work, you feel a little monotonous about the task or perhaps you might be just tired not getting any response from your readers.

It gets really difficult sometimes to understand your readers and more to find out whether what posts they prefer to read and share them with other networks. The best possible stuff, you can do in such scenario is to experiment, you might not see the results immediately but good experimentation will surely show you great results in future which will be the deciding factor to divulge in other industry. Talking of blogs, why not just try bringing diversity in your blog and making your users all refreshed again? Sounds like a good idea, for me it surely worked and for you too, it will, provided you do it tactfully!

Its not a big milestone to change your topics then why not experiment and check on your user’s preferences. I surely got a doubt when I first thought of trying but understanding its perspective I made up my mind and below are the advantages I got by getting diversity in my blog, the way you get bored writing the same things, your users might also feel the same and there is nothing like a PERFECT BLOG to match your user’s expectations, your users will have a broader arena to read on your blog and bring in more interest from more users.

Your users will get varieties of posts in a single blog that will create again the lost interest, talk about multiple topics that will encourage discussions and comments.

You increase your blog’s chances to getting linked with bigger networks.

Expands your writing skills, the topics which you were always aware of but didn’t write cause it dint belong to your niche will come into picture.

Diverting from single topic to another is as easy as changing nappies but there may be quite a number of some difficulties you might face while twisting your topics, some argued reasons are given below:

The new information that you want to share might not be useful to all the users of the blog; some people may be just committed to reading your usual monotonous articles.

Not all users may be delighted to change their concentration to the topics they are not interested in.

Different people mentally think different and hence, the experimentation.

Some issues might be conflicting, like there might be miles of difference in the new topic compared to the present niche or theme of your blog.

It may create furor amongst the advertisers, if the topics are not in accordance with the ads they might have put in.

Letting go off, all the loopholes involved in having diversity in your blog, challenges for themes and more – Remember, THERE NEEDS TO BE A CHANGE once in a while so its okay to go on with your mind thoughts rather than the heart thoughts! Stay awake with whats happening around you and you will have more topics and news to write on.
