More than the SEO of a website, the bigger challenge is to track its performance, there are varied methods through which SEO is done and it doesn’t take more than just a few hours of time to notice the changes made in your search engine rankings only if you have taken sharp, steady and right steps. Whether you are in an online or offline business, everyone of us have a little idea of what Internet networking is all about and what are the advantages of SEO to your site, but of course, if it’s a commercial website we are talking about.

Pretty much well, I had been quite accustomed to the words called SEO and Traffic statistics when I started blogging nearly 2 years back, it didn’t took me much time to understand the detailed concepts of each of the technical terms being used by the experts in the field and it becomes even easier for all of you who are reading this post right now. As you become more aware of your requirements as a website owner and yearning to earn money out of it, its but natural for anyone to get eager to know the deeper concepts of the facts that goes in developing your website. We have everything possible under the sun to do SEO for a site, we have SEO experts, we have SEO tools, we have keywords experts to help us get the top ranking in a search engine but how do we track our performances to check if all the SEO planning is really working, the common answer I get from anyone is looking at the SERP i.e., Search Engine Ranking all about seoPosition. That is just one of the ways to track or evaluate your performances, going beyond this I have got some excellent information which would help you look at the well being of your site and also attain the real objective of optimizing your pages.

  • The statistics:
Looking at the traffic statistics would give you the clearest of ideas about your online performances. Traffic statistics help you see the number of page views, the original IPs and the number of visits per person. Web offers us lot many things than what we actually think of and by cross linking the above statistics you would get yet another bounty of details like the number of times a person visits your site daily, the reasons for peak in traffic, the number of pages viewed on an average, the consistency of the visitors on your site.
  • The crawling frequency:
The sites don’t just become popular by video marketing or high PR; there is the content of the site, which enables it to get ranked on the top pages of the search engines. What is more important is the crawling frequency of your site; this is the main reason why a video posting gets indexed faster within minutes of posting. Remember, to make your website, search engine friendly, the more they love your content, the more the crawling frequency. You would also know how frequently the bots go to your site, the increase in frequency is a good sign means your site is getting recognized for the good content and the decrease of frequency is a bad sign meaning that search engines are losing interest in your site and you need to start publishing a better fresh content.
  • Frequented pages on your site:
The statistics of your site tells you all, if there are more number of visitors on particular page, that means its more popular with the readers and that indirectly means that you have written some great piece of content. Going through the hit pages again, would give you an idea what to write next time to interest your audiences.
  • The top entry pages:
Check for the URLs which are more popular with your readers, they might have directly landed there, through some specific searched keywords, this should give you an idea of the SEO efforts you are putting in.
  • The top exit pages:
Looking at the pages from where your users exited your site would give you an idea why they left, was there something wrong in the content or the method of presenting. People might have happily come to your site through SEO but left sooner because of the poor content, so takes necessary steps to improve upon that.
  • Referrals:
You might like to check if the site where you did guest posting bought you specific amount of traffic to your site. Even if you participate in some forum, there would be some amount of followers you might get on your site. Look out for such programs to make your site ranked on the top pages.
  • The Location:
If yours is a business website, then you would of course like to know from which part of the world does your traffic comes from. It especially helps when you are looking for a widespread marketing program in some parts of particular continents.

There are just lots many things than what your SERP can tell you, you can define the number of visitors, their locations, you can design your strategies by simple yet sophisticated tools available online on Internet.
