For making a website successful i.e. for ensuring that it receives adequate traffic, it is extremely important that you use the technique called Search Engine Optimization or SEO. The success of a website also depends hugely on how often you are getting the SEO of your website reviewed. For effective SEO, you must choose the right keywords. This article will teach you the process of choosing the best search engine optimization keywords.

First think which niche your website will be based on. Start writing down all the keywords which according to you people seeking information on that niche are likely to search for. Consult your family members, friends and customers and ask them to suggest keywords which they think are popular or would have been used while searching for information related to the niche of your site.

Getting a keyword tool offering you suggestions can be extremely helpful. You will come across several such tools available online absolutely free of cost. Those tools will inform you about the keywords and keyphrases that have maximum popularity and will help you in bringing traffic to your site.

Check what are the keywords used by your competitors. Visit the websites of your competitors and go to the source code for finding out keywords used by them. For visiting the source code page, click on ‘View’ on your web browser and select the option ‘Source’. If you don’t get this option take the cursor to any of the website’s blank area and right click; select the option ‘View Source’ on the menu popping up.

If you have enough funds, joint pay-per-click programs to know the number of impressions you are managing to get from each of the keyphrases and keywords used by you on your website. Within a few months you will understand which keyword is working and which is useless.

Widgets are made of files resembling the website code packaged for running small applications. These widgets are used for displaying weather updates, games, stock values, news feeds and interesting things like countdown to your favorite television show’s next season. Adding widgets to a website will offer visitors coming to the site useful graphic gizmos. Below, you will find the steps of creating widgets for websites.

Download the converter tool and widget editor. You will find widgets in two formats, flat files and compressed files. The flattened widgets can be run faster; however, if you are looking to edit the flat files, they need to be converted.

Write down the widget’s code on the plain text editor. Remember, here, you are not allowed to use word processing tool. It is advisable that you perform the writing task on simple applications like a Notepad. For writing a widget code, you will need to have knowledge of XML, HTML, AppleScript and JavaScript.

The next step would be editing the images for the widget. Convert or create the image file using image editing applications. This step can be omitted in case you don’t want to have any image displayed on your widget.

Now, you will have to create the file required for the widget. In case of simple ones, having only ‘.kos’ files will do; these files contain primary codes. A ‘.kos’ file must include JavaScript code, which is required for explaining the running mechanism of the widget and XML code, which is required for widget preferences and image placement. In case of complex widgets separate ‘.scpt’ files can be created for AppleScript codes and ‘.js’ files can be created for the JavaScript codes.

After completing the code, remember to turn off the widget’s debug feature. Your widget is now ready for being packaged. Convert your widget folder for packaging it; this will allow you to run it on different computer platforms.

The final step is of uploading the widget on the website. If you like, you can keep the option of sharing the widget with people visiting your website for using it on their sites. To make sharing possible, submit the widget to a widget gallery.

Based on the purpose of using, shape and their position in the site, web buttons can be classified into 4 basic types; the menus, the tabs, the badges and the buttons. Below we have briefly discussed about the applications of these 4 types of web buttons:

The menus: The menus are web buttons used for building the website menus. You can create menus of your website using individual elements like using whole blocks or bars or using a single button for every page. Which will be the suitable option for the website depends on the preference of the designer or the website owner.

The tabs: Tabs are mostly used for creating the sub menus, control panel menus and for accessing different parts of the site. However, if you wish, you can also use tabs for creating website menus. Slicing and laying out the tabs involve some tricky steps; having the tabs in form of images is a lot easier. Every tab must have two versions, the non active version and the active version. They should also carry edges that will blend perfectly with the remaining part of the panels.

Badges: This button type is significantly different from tabs and menus. Badges are used for promoting campaigns or products, showing an item’s current status, informing the visitors about achieved awards and certificates and offering information on features like guarantee policies and special discounts. Badges must have extremely eye catching appearances; you can get extremely creative with the design of the badges. The fancier will be the badges the more will audiences it will attract.

Buttons: You can use web buttons independently from the tabs and menus. Web buttons should be used for special purposes. The main purpose of your website might be attracting visitors to click on the web button. These buttons must look different than the tabs and menus.

There are several options in MS Word for making brochures. One of the most used options is making brochures by selecting and downloading a preferred brochure template from the wide range of brochure templates available on the official website of Microsoft. You can also create a brochure in MS Word beginning from scratch. Below, we have discussed the steps of creating a brochure on MS Word 2010 (these instructions can be adjusted for creating a brochure on all versions of Word).

Step 1:
Start by making a perfect visual illustration of your brochure. Fold a blank paper having dimensions 8.5/11 inches into 3 equal parts (fold in the same way as we fold a letter). Next, unfold it and put it in your front in landscape fashion. The paper must have 2 creases, which will separate it into 3 equal columns. Now, sketch an outline in brief about the content of each page; while doing so remember that your first column is acting at the heading page of the brochure. The heading page will include name, brief introduction, a corresponding graphic image or picture and the contact details. The remaining two columns will include all the other essential facts, arranged sequentially.

Step 2:
Open a MS Word document and set up the page in landscape view. The page will have 1.5 inches left as margin on each of its sides. For doing that, go to the toolbar menu (you will get it right at the top of the page) and click on the ‘Page Layout’ option. Then again click on ‘Orientation’ and finally select ‘Landscape’. For margins, click on the option ‘Narrow’ by going to ‘Margins’ tab.

Step 3:
Create 3 columns on the page. To do that, go to the tab named ‘Page Layout’ and select ‘Columns’. In the ‘Columns’ section there’s a option called ‘More Columns’, select that option and click the icon ‘Three’. Keep 1 inch space between columns. Now, click ‘OK’.

Step 4:
Now choose the size, type, and color of the font in which the content of the columns will be written. Pick fonts that can be read easily. For headings, links of websites or any other important info choose a difference size and color; but the font should be same.

Step 5:
If you need to insert images and pictures into your brochure, do that by taking pictures from Wordart or clip art. Click on ‘Insert’ tab present on the page’s toolbar menu for getting the options ‘Wordart’ and ‘clip art’. It is quite obvious that the picture you are choosing must be related to the topic of the brochure. If you need to edit the picture, right click on it and choose the option ‘Format Picture’.

Step 6:
As you create the brochure, keep on saving the document often. Once the typing work is done, perform a thorough spell check. Do this both manually and taking the help of the spell check tool of MS Word. Now, the brochure is ready. Take a print out and use it for advertising your services or products.

If you commit mistakes while optimizing your website for search engines, you will surely fail to drive traffic towards your website. Below we have discussed some of the most dangerous SEO mistakes that should be avoided by website owners.

The most common as well as the most harmful SEO mistake is targeting wrong keywords. This mistake is committed not only by laymen, but even the experience SEO professionals might commit such mistake. The right way of selecting keywords for your website is performing a thorough research on the most searched keywords related to the niche of your site. For instance, if your website is on the health niche, the keyword ‘health guide’ might not be as useful as the keyword ‘stay healthy’; this is because more people are entering the phrase ‘stay healthy’ in the search engine search bar.

Another common SEO mistake is ignoring the title tag while including keywords. The title tag is probably the most important place where you should incorporate a keyword. Doing so will not only help in optimizing the site, but will also show search results as the title of your webpage.

Many websites nowadays are using Flash to have an attractive appearance. However, using flash can reduce the importance of a website in front of users and search engines. To make a Flash website liked by the search engines, you should provide an html version of it.

Using only JavaScript for the website navigation is another big SEO mistake. The search engines cannot read JavaScript. So, if you have included JavaScript menus in your site, you should create a sitemap with different pages of the website.

Many believe (this also includes SEO professionals) that search engine optimization is primarily about getting the meta description and keywords correct. The fact is that meta tags have now already tagged as trick of the past. You can no more expect high ranks on search pages only by using meta descriptions and keywords.

You can turn your web venue into a fun filled viewing and learning experience for your website visitors by unleashing your creativity during web designing.

Colors: Colors are fun. Make your website resplendent with bright colors like yellow and red so that the screen catches the viewer’s eye. Extreme contrasting colors tire the eye muscles quickly making web page viewing tedious. Such colors are best avoided. Remember to choose colors within the color pallet of popular browsers to avoid dithering.

Interaction: Fun and interactivity go hand in hand. What can be more monotonous than web pages that look like a bunch of documents? Your web page must present information in creative ways. Interactivity can liven up your website- be it a family site or a business site. Receiving feed back from visitors and giving responses to their questions are creative ways of ensuring interaction with viewers. A family or children’s website can be ‘webified’ with interactive coloring pages, activity themes, games and forums.

Cartoons and Funny Articles: Cartoons are a source of amusement and fun to children and adults alike. So why not add them to your website and make it funny? Funny articles make very absorbing reading and are ideal ad-ins for making your website entertaining.

E-cards, Crafts Section: Adding sections for E cards and crafts is also a great idea to make your website exciting for visitors.

3D Animation, Graphics and Pictures: Pictures produce a greater impact than words. So how about using 3D animation to create appalling visuals on your website? 3D graphics are lifelike and attractive. You could use this modern technology whether your website is a family site or a cyber shop. 3D ad-pictures of your products will surely be impressive and persuasive-your products will be in high demand. You can make use of graphic designs, funky pictures and videos to make your website look trendy.

If you want to create your own website or blog on the internet you have to first register your domain name and then choose a good web host. After addressing these issues, it’s time to move into the next stage of website and blog creation. This stage involves development of the website or blog.

Widgets, add-ons, open and closed source tools, adware, freeware and paid software are available in many varieties to enable you to develop your website pages and blog. The almost endless list of choices of website and blog development software makes choosing any one software a challenging task especially for the new web owners who are not familiar with all these software and the features they offer.

The primary software you need for website and blog development is the publishing platform. It makes it easier for you to change and modify your web venue without having to work with confusing codes. It helps perform design changes and website modifications. It also allows you to post articles with a few clicks.

There are innumerable publishing platforms available. The choice of a publishing platform is a personal prerogative of the website owner. Most web owners nowadays seem to prefer Blogger and Word press as their publishing platforms. Out of these popular software WordPress is the better option as it offers more customization capabilities to the user than Blogger. There are variations in the method of posting too.

If your website is a business website like an e-shop, promotion website, company web venue or an affiliate marketing site web traffic analysis software assumes significance. This software helps you analyze the number of visitors to your website. This helps you know the size of your website traffic.

Advertising pharmaceuticals in the media, which include newspapers, television and magazine, is considered to be illegal in Europe. Right now, only two nations of the world, New Zealand and United States have legalized advertising the pharmaceuticals directly to the consumers. In this article, we have discussed about the ethics of medical advertising.

The most unethical mode of medical advertising is advertising pharmaceuticals directly to the consumers. In the US, the pharmaceutical industry is depending largely on the media. The role of media is promoting pharmaceuticals so big, that you will often hear even children humming jingles used in promotion of different medications.

Whether or not medical advertising is ethical was a topic of discussion at the Senate, in the year 2009. The discussion was initiated by James Moran. Moran proposed banning the advertisements that are not meant for children or do not have anything to do with them, during the prime time. However, this bill was never put for being voted. Similar to the proposal forwarded by Moran, Jerrold Nadler came up with another bill. The primary content of this bill was: IRS should amend its laws for preventing tax deductions on direct consumer advertising for prescription medications. The primary concern of Moran and Nadler was the fact that through advertising of pharmaceuticals the laypeople are encouraged to make their own medication decisions and this might end up harming their health significantly.

Is hospital advertising ethical? With the growing competition in the hospital industry, hospitals are opting for advertising their services for gaining more and more patients. Particularly, the top private hospitals are spending big amounts for advertising. Advertising ethics suggest questioning the management bodies of these hospitals whether spending the money for reducing treatment expenses would have been a better option than spending them for advertisements. Although this matter is never discussed in the senate, it is a major topic of debate in the medical circle of the United States.

The common myths related to search engine optimization (SEO) are:

SEO offers guaranteed positions on the search engine result pages

An experienced, knowledgeable and credible search engine optimizer will definitely be able to demonstrate his previous performances as example of his great SEO skills; however, he will never be able to guarantee any future result. Other than for the pay-for-placement advertisements, these optimizers do not possess the power of guaranteeing top positions. The one group possessing the power of deciding what will be ranked and what will not be is the related search engine. Often you will come across SEO firms presenting offers saying that they can position your website high on the search engine result pages. Those are nothing, but spam. Millions and millions of pages get submitted to the search engines for achieving top positions. If a SEO firm manages to bring a page on the first page of the search engine results only for a few days, they claim that they have completed their job perfectly. However, reaching the top only for some days is unlikely to help a webpage to achieve their goals.

SEO can offer permanent positions on the search engine result pages

As far as search engines are concerned, no such thing called permanent position exists. Fluctuations in traffic obtained and position on the search engine result pages is normal as every day a number of new pages carrying fresh and unique content get submitted to the search engines and old pages get updated or deleted.

SEO can offer instant link popularity

If a search engine optimizer claims that he can offer you instant link popularity, it indicates that he is spamming the search engines. SEO firms promising immediate results operate link farms for inflating the link popularity artificially.

Websites can be of several types; the most common ones among them are: affiliate market sites, business websites and private blogs. You may own any website type, but for being successful is achieving the goal for which you have launched the website, you must analyze web traffic for your site. As a serious website owner, you should never miss paying attention to the act of analyzing web traffic. This article will inform you about the most convenient ways of analyzing web traffic.

One of the most widely used methods for web traffic analyzing is JavaScript visitor counter. The tool will help us to know how many hits our websites are receiving. These days, website owners are using counters which can be seen only by them. However, earlier, anyone wishing to check a website’s traffic was allowed to view the counters. As for websites not getting so much traffic this resulted in a lot of embarrassment, rules got changed.

Usually, ISPs offer statistical packages for analyzing website traffic. The service can be enjoyed absolutely free on seeking service from some industry friendly ISPs. The other ISPs provide these statistical packages against a certain charge. What the statistical packages offered by ISPs actually are? They are software furnishing in-depth comprehensions of web traffic. Technically, they are significantly more superior to the JavaScript visitor counters. Other than informing how many hits a website is receiving, the statistical packages from ISPs will present information on data transferred that will help you to anticipate the webhost or ISP costs. You will also get to know about the different hosts from where the visitors are coming to your website. The counters will never offer you such facilities; they are only meant for reciprocating the record requests.
