Directory Submission, Consider some factors!

A huge pool of Internet has bought around a complete change we did business or even for that matter marketing your products. Today, people are earning money by just advising, “how to make money online” or “the best SEO methods” and just imagine people are nearly spending thousands of dollars to eat that piece of sweet pie. The benefits of online industry are tremendous; you can almost earn double the money by hooking on to Internet for just one month. Now, there are some express opinions from our very own SEO professionals and experts in the field who have been saying that Search Engine Optimization is almost dead or that it had never been alive or been in existence.

It really shook me off, when I first heard about this news but I agreed when it was actually coming from an expert’s den, according to them all the hyped methods relating to SEO are dead and even the social media websites are doing no good. Well, it was difficult for me to gulp it down at first, but yeah, there were some hidden facets to the game, all the directory submission guidelinesthings we see today whether SEO, social media or pagerank they do exist but may be invisibly used for different aspects. I personally believe that directories play a huge role for link building and it does help to build up the popularity of the site contradictory to what Matt Cutts of google said that, “adding URLs to the directory was no good”, but people took it otherwise thinking that they would be penalized if they submit their sites on directories. Now this became a hot topic of discussion, google’s announcement came as a facilitating learning lesson for new comers, people don’t submit their sites to directories as often as we nearly think as there are so many of them, some directories are paid, free, good or bad depending on its popularity.

There are varied options to get your site popular by getting better ranking on the search engines but still with so many options around the place, the task seems by far the most tedious ones, but not if you follow the golden considerate rules of directory submission. You just can’t go on adding your URL to N number of directories without knowing its reputation or the niche the directory belongs to. Lets make our task a little simpler by extracting the best factors for directory submission eliminating the senseless directories:

  • Check if the directory is properly indexed and crawled on a regular basis:

Having just one glance at the directory will give you an idea of the procedure you need to be doing. If the directory had been just opened last week and contains only 100 indexed pages and about 200 links then you shouldn’t be even thinking to add your site to this directory.

  • Check if the links are pure text and no JavaScript or redirected codes are used:

Run a quick check through the source code of the directory, make sure that there are nofollow tags in there and no suspicious coding is present. The paid directories are made with the best of profit making minds, to make sure that they don’t trick you into unnecessarily buying their links when you actually don’t belong to that niche or fall into the trap of unusual JavaScript coding.

  • Be aware of the bad neighborhood:

Linking your sites to directories is good but don’t get in to questionable sites that are illegal, gamble sites or adult websites. Search for the directories which belongs to your particular niche, there are lots of spam happening over internet networks which drain all the useful information from the sites so if you get connected to such bad networks, it will hamper your growth and reputation as well.

The above 3 factors, will particularly help to filter the directories which gives value to your site from the SEO point of view, be very sharp at the source of directories you are choosing and don’t fall prey to hoax directories even after paying them some handsome money.
