There are several options in MS Word for making brochures. One of the most used options is making brochures by selecting and downloading a preferred brochure template from the wide range of brochure templates available on the official website of Microsoft. You can also create a brochure in MS Word beginning from scratch. Below, we have discussed the steps of creating a brochure on MS Word 2010 (these instructions can be adjusted for creating a brochure on all versions of Word).

Step 1:
Start by making a perfect visual illustration of your brochure. Fold a blank paper having dimensions 8.5/11 inches into 3 equal parts (fold in the same way as we fold a letter). Next, unfold it and put it in your front in landscape fashion. The paper must have 2 creases, which will separate it into 3 equal columns. Now, sketch an outline in brief about the content of each page; while doing so remember that your first column is acting at the heading page of the brochure. The heading page will include name, brief introduction, a corresponding graphic image or picture and the contact details. The remaining two columns will include all the other essential facts, arranged sequentially.

Step 2:
Open a MS Word document and set up the page in landscape view. The page will have 1.5 inches left as margin on each of its sides. For doing that, go to the toolbar menu (you will get it right at the top of the page) and click on the ‘Page Layout’ option. Then again click on ‘Orientation’ and finally select ‘Landscape’. For margins, click on the option ‘Narrow’ by going to ‘Margins’ tab.

Step 3:
Create 3 columns on the page. To do that, go to the tab named ‘Page Layout’ and select ‘Columns’. In the ‘Columns’ section there’s a option called ‘More Columns’, select that option and click the icon ‘Three’. Keep 1 inch space between columns. Now, click ‘OK’.

Step 4:
Now choose the size, type, and color of the font in which the content of the columns will be written. Pick fonts that can be read easily. For headings, links of websites or any other important info choose a difference size and color; but the font should be same.

Step 5:
If you need to insert images and pictures into your brochure, do that by taking pictures from Wordart or clip art. Click on ‘Insert’ tab present on the page’s toolbar menu for getting the options ‘Wordart’ and ‘clip art’. It is quite obvious that the picture you are choosing must be related to the topic of the brochure. If you need to edit the picture, right click on it and choose the option ‘Format Picture’.

Step 6:
As you create the brochure, keep on saving the document often. Once the typing work is done, perform a thorough spell check. Do this both manually and taking the help of the spell check tool of MS Word. Now, the brochure is ready. Take a print out and use it for advertising your services or products.

Advertising pharmaceuticals in the media, which include newspapers, television and magazine, is considered to be illegal in Europe. Right now, only two nations of the world, New Zealand and United States have legalized advertising the pharmaceuticals directly to the consumers. In this article, we have discussed about the ethics of medical advertising.

The most unethical mode of medical advertising is advertising pharmaceuticals directly to the consumers. In the US, the pharmaceutical industry is depending largely on the media. The role of media is promoting pharmaceuticals so big, that you will often hear even children humming jingles used in promotion of different medications.

Whether or not medical advertising is ethical was a topic of discussion at the Senate, in the year 2009. The discussion was initiated by James Moran. Moran proposed banning the advertisements that are not meant for children or do not have anything to do with them, during the prime time. However, this bill was never put for being voted. Similar to the proposal forwarded by Moran, Jerrold Nadler came up with another bill. The primary content of this bill was: IRS should amend its laws for preventing tax deductions on direct consumer advertising for prescription medications. The primary concern of Moran and Nadler was the fact that through advertising of pharmaceuticals the laypeople are encouraged to make their own medication decisions and this might end up harming their health significantly.

Is hospital advertising ethical? With the growing competition in the hospital industry, hospitals are opting for advertising their services for gaining more and more patients. Particularly, the top private hospitals are spending big amounts for advertising. Advertising ethics suggest questioning the management bodies of these hospitals whether spending the money for reducing treatment expenses would have been a better option than spending them for advertisements. Although this matter is never discussed in the senate, it is a major topic of debate in the medical circle of the United States.

Letterheads help in setting up and boosting the corporate identity of a company. If the letterhead of your company is designed perfectly, the people or business receiving correspondence from you will have a good impression about the company’s background. Below we have discussed the essentials of designing letterheads.

The design must be simple :

A letterhead must not contain too much design as it might reduce your message’s readability. Instead, you must include simple, yet catchy design effects and fit the logo of your organization into it.

Consistency is essential :

The design of a company’s letterhead must be consistent with every print media tool you are using for other items like logos, envelops, business cards etc. Doing so will ensure that your targeted customer base recognizes your brand easily.

Avoid use of unnecessary graphics :

Never include unnecessary graphics in the letterhead, particularly on the region where you will be including the body of the message. The opacity of the image or design can be minimized for making it less prominent; however, some might still find it difficult to reach the letter’s content. So, it is better to avoid using such graphics. You must remember that the chief purpose of using letterheads is sending messages across to businesses or people under the identity of your company.

Include simple fonts :

You must avoid using fancy fonts in the letterhead. Even if you are using fancy fonts, you must make sure that such fonts are not used on the body of your message. Using the same font that is used in the logo of your company is a good idea; it will also show up consistency in the design.

Choose the right color combination :

The color you will be using on the letterhead must complement the colors used in the other stationeries of your organization. This will boost up the corporate identity of your company.

Below we have presented some tips for writing a winning press release:

The most significant part of a press release is its headline. The headline is generally written in the centered alignment and is bolded (a large font can also be used instead). It’s best to keep the headline below 20 words; however, you must make sure that the headline properly describes the content described in the body of the press release. Headline of a press release should never be vague or funny.

The initial paragraph of a press release must summarize the news presented in the rest of the write up. The first paragraph must inform the readers about the exact answers to what, where, who, why and when. Never save the main information of the press release for the last sentence of the write up; include it in the initial part of the press release, preferably within the first 2 sentences.

A press release should not include use of certain words, for instance empty adjectives such as ‘best’, ‘unique’ etc. According to experts, press releases must not include too many adverbs and adjectives. The better way of describing your services and products is by using bullet points in the 2nd or 3rd point of the press release. Press releases should never look or sound cute; the format of press releases must be similar to that of a news article.

Grammatical and spelling mistakes are a big no no for press releases. Sending our press releasing filled with incorrect grammar and spelling errors will send out wrong message about your business to your prospective customers.

The following paragraphs after the first paragraphs should only include the elaborate descriptions of the points mentioned in the first paragraph. These paragraphs must not include any new information i.e. information, which is not mentioned in the starting paragraph of the press release.

The brochure representing your business must have the right images. In this article we’ll discuss the ways of selecting suitable images for your brochure.

While selecting images for your brochure, you must ask yourself whether the images picked by you are conveying the right messages. There’s a common perception that including some simple and beautiful pictures with text is the right way of developing a brochure. However, if the images are not representing the business for which the brochure is created, well, there’s no use of adding them. When you are creating a colored brochure, it should never contain any sort of ambiguity; this is more important if you are printing a brochure with limited space. Picking images that convey the same messages as your business is the best way of proceeding.

The images you are picking must also fit the concept or theme based on which the brochure is designed. In certain cases the business owners pick images representing their business aptly, but they fail to choose images that fit the concept or theme of brochure. This might confuse the prospective customers. So, before selecting the images check whether they are matching the brochure’s theme perfectly.

Your prospective customers must figure out the message offered by the images easily. How much beneficial the brochure would be for your business depends on how efficiently its content can attract the prospective buyers. The perfect images are those that can communicate the message within 5 to 10 seconds. If your prospective customers need to spend several minutes to understand what the images are actually depicting, the brochure is unlikely to allure them to buy the product or services offered by your company.

Depending on the kind of business the brochure is representing, you’ll have to also decide whether you will be including photographs or graphics. In some businesses, for instance businesses base on travel, food etc real photographs leave great impact on prospective customers.

A chief Marketing tool for both online and offline business is advertising. And in present date this marketing tool has taken a form of art rather than a mere way of wooing public. Advertisements, today are more of a brain teasers for public rather than a simple narration of product benefit or service quality. Irrespective of sizes, companies have used innovative advertising techniques to make their advert the best looking one among the million. Let us explore some of the most innovative advertisement that made the respective companies make their niche successfully.

The company Kraft took an unexplored road and decided to capture the underestimated population; housewives and mothers. The company initiated the concept of marketing to mothers which later turned out to be a successful digital marketing drive. This innovative advertisement involved many campaigns and one of it was inviting mothers of Philadelphia to make cheese cream recipes. The recipe video was used by Kraft foods as a marketing campaign on television.

The automobile company Ford plummeted into the social media with immense audacity. The company had the intention of pulling the customers of rival firms through the social med platform. The innovative advertisement if Ford happed to have the tag line of “Swap your Ride”. This new mission allowed the owners of Toyota and Honda to test drive the cars of Ford. Ford also launched a new movement named Fiesta Movement. The movement was drove by the bloggers as they took the charge of the advert campaigning. And hence the bloggers spread the word of Fiesta all across the country much before it was actually launched.

The social media clients are a great catch for companies and the innovative advertisements sell a lot in social media sites. The digital marketing company Mullen was able to capture two of its potentially strong customers, JetBlue and Zippos , though social media marketing.

The advertising technique holds a great importance even in the fashion industry and innovative advertisements have been seen in the said industry as well. The luxury brand Burberry made ts niche in the market by becoming a luxury brand that is backed with sophisticated technology. Last year, Burberry fashion house broadcasted thus live fashion show in three dimensional version. Furthermore the fashion house also conducted a presale prior to 72 hours of its launch all over the world. This is also a stunt that helps make a brand earn its name.

A business network can be effective only if it is live and keeps adding people into it. Keeping it dynamic can be done by staying in touch with all the members within a network while adding more people needs advertising. A good advertising method is the one that can catch attention of people and at the same time doesn’t need much investment. Postcard advertising is best suited in this regard as it is cost effective and serves the purpose of drawing attention as well. The effectiveness of this kind of advertising is high as a postcard is devoid of any envelope and thus the recipient is sure to have a look at it at.

One doesn’t need to rush for stationery to start off postcard advertising. The first thing to note in case of this advertising is the mailing list. Creating it may take time in case you want to include the customers you know personally. But you can also hire or purchase a list from mailing list suppliers. Creating your own list by scanning through a directory is not a bad idea as well. You can include new customer addresses but don’t forget to add each and every known client. Do it meticulously as leaving even a single existing customer will convey a wrong message about your business.

Creating a post card is an easy task as you can find readymade postcard easily in stationery shops. Postcard advertising is an inexpensive way of advertising and many small business owners may adopt it if they know its importance. Hence, to make yourself unique from them you can make your own postcard with eye-catching color and design. A desktop publishing program can help you print the post cards easily. There are plenty cheap programs available and you can also ease the work of cutting the postcards in same size by buying perforated postcard sheet.

Finally, the most challenging task of preparing the content of the site has to be done. The response rate of postcard advertising has been found to be dramatic if the business house writes about an offer. It is always better to use offers or discount s as the main content for postcard advertising. The offer should be writes with large fonts as a post card provides enough space for writing a small offer. Utilize the full space of a postcard and create a wonderful content with special emphasis t the word “Free”. Free term always attracts a customer.

Whenever I watch a strategically created advertisement in television, I notice it minutely and try to decipher the inner meaning. I can hardly put my eyes off the crisply made ads displayed on web. Even a small but catchy banner lures me to look at it. Well, what can an advert mean? “Buy our product or service”; this is what every advertisement says subtly. But as a viewer I do give a look to an ad, although I know it’s a déjà vu- giving new look to the old strategy of selling. I often wonder how many people, like me, have the same habit of giving a brief or detailed look to an advert. Certainly, a very little population of people doesn’t have the inclination to look at advertisements as most people are of my type. Internet marketing, today aptly provide the giant corporate houses to grow their empire.

However, this marketing strategy is generally accepted as an extravagance by smaller business houses. I have seen small firms especially the online ones paying a great heed on the search engine optimization. These firms struggle to attain an effective search engine optimization technique but advertisements for them are generally an unaffordable lavishness. Another element in the treasure-trove of marketing for small business is social media marketing all of which focus dedicatedly in increasing inbound leads. Inbound lead generation is undoubtedly healthy for business but it must not be generated at the cost of outbound leads.

The choice of business webinars and emarketing are superior for firms of all sizes. This fact is gradually being realized by slam firms. For better understanding let me give a practice example of the effects of these two web marketing components. Suppose a business house create and opy in list of 4000 targeted contacts, then at least 50 prospects out of this list will be registered consistently in every webinars. This is certainly a great achievement. Webinars, as suggested by its name, are educational gives an opportunity to business organization to express their know-how on respective target markets. As an obvious consequence of Webinars, organizations are capable of extending their marketing reach and brands.

A basic requirement of webinar is opt in email marketing list which is not a hassle too difficult to manage. In case an organization lacks the knowledge to build this email list, outsourcing this task to agencies can be done. However, in-house opt in email list can be generated but cautionary steps must be undertaken to avoid dire legal ramifications. Adhering to CAN-SPAM Act is must for this purpose.

Positive effects of webinars are sure to give a “big push” to small business firms. But small business organizations are generally characterized by their tremendous urge to grow fast. This often leads to impatience, which readily hinders the process of brand building through Webinars. Webinars cannot build brand names within a fortnight. One need to wait to get the result and this is a prerequisite for this web marketing component.

I was in tears. After watching the Youtube video of a model walking on a ramp before wobbling and falling for the umpteenth time, I was laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face and my stomach was aching from all the laughter. It’s amazing how typing in “bloopers” into Youtube can give you such devastatingly hilarious results. News, fashion, sports, you name it and someone somewhere has screwed up. Next thing you know, bang! They’re an internet celebrity, like that Tron Kid or the Afro Ninja. God, I can spend hours laughing at it, but then I realized; we all make Youtube bloopers at some point or the other, we just don’t realize it.

Youtube is an excellent way to spread the word about your product, but just so many of these videos have their own errors. Some of them are strewn with errors, some have small niggling ones that still stand out even though they’re small. Simple things like an unfocused camera or the excessive use of the word “um” can really grate on the nerves of your audience. And surprisingly, even professional media outlets are not immune to this amateurish display. You’d imagine that they are free from a case of Youtube bloopers, but that’s not the case. Take these simple mistakes as an example :

“Um…did I like, erm…screw up?”

Cut out the fillers. It does nothing to add to your message and just takes away a lot from it. To see today’s generation use “um”, “like” and “whatever” so freely gets on my nerves, but it’s worse when businesses also fall prey to “whatever-itis” when creating their marketing message. Know what you’re going to talk about before hand and keep it short.

Hold still

Who are you, Michael Bay? What’s with the jerky camera work? If I wanted to watch some camerawork where the subject was out of focus and all over the place, I’d watch the original Transformers movie, not a Youtube video. This is a cardinal sin, so keep that camera steady and stay focused. Use a tripod if you have to.

Look at me

If your video involves addressing people, look into the damn camera. Don’t look shifty and look away, you come off as untrustworthy or even completely disinterested. Keep your head moving at all times if you must, just like you would in a normal conversation.
