Are Bloggers The Future Face Of Journalism?

Submitted in Blogging on January 4, 2010 No Comment

Though many people had been asking me the same question, I really feel there is absolutely a serious career waiting for the journalists worldwide, up to now, they have been working with some newspapers, magazines, journals, etc. blogging is something that was always in their career niches, perhaps even they might not be aware about it. Blogging gives them the freedom to express their own selves, and there are no limitations to express their feelings nor are they bound by any agreements or forced to write the false statement by the companies. The mode of advertisements are changing with the changing media world and people are getting more hooked to internet for all their requirements, if any company needs any publishing, then internet brings them superb solutions with minimal expenses.

People are getting used to the new approaches, World Wide Web has to offer with seemingly new opportunities arising each day of the year, the aspiring journalists have a way to move on, with no limits, no pressure, no deadlines and no working for someone. I have had a couple of acquaintances just last month, I met 5 people who have taken up blogging very seriously after leaving their high profile jobs (not to mention, their high paying jobs!) and they are really enjoying their newly found freedom given the fact that they can use their skills to the ultimate best without having any pressureblogging as journalism to play according the remotes played by their seniors. They are the young entrepreneurs of today, you might get less money for now but they are the new face of changing journalism and it is guaranteed to grow even more in coming decades. Given its pros and cons, I am sure the transformation is for good and it will enable people to grow in their careers and give them much bigger options in their professional lives.

Here I bring you some of the benefits which are beneficial especially to the hardcore journalists, who like to have their stand and want to get forward their thoughts to the audience:

  1. The biggest benefit is that you can directly interact with your audience; there are no middle parties involved.
  2. You might not have bigger arenas as national media, but you have the power to put forward your thoughts across even if it means a smaller audience.
  3. You get to know directly what your readers expect from you and can earn profits earned directly.
  4. You write, to bring up your own reputation, not for any newspaper or a magazine.
  5. You can alone build up your own brand.

Although there are much benefits writing for yourself and having your own space, we ought to know there is much bigger difference between journalism and blogging, for journalism you have to just keep writing and rest of the stuff like marketing your ideas, publishing, interviewing, etc. is done by other personnel, when you set out on blogging, you have to create everything from scratch i.e., creating your own ideas, there is no backbone to support, your publishing domain is your own, you have to market yourself, etc. taking up blogging is not easy especially when you are transferring yourself from journalism field. Given below are some of the points that will help you market yourself and your blog:

  • Use social networks like facebook, twitter, and varied forums to market your blog. Meet up new people online and find out the number of followers they have that will help you to get easy traffic on your site.
  • Place the content, which your readers prefer to read, show them that they are important and make sure you have constant loyal readers coming in.
  • Encourage your audience to write comments and what they feel about a particular article or a blog.
  • Once you have a stable audience you can start marketing company’s products and thus earn yourself good reputation and good income too.

There are lots of arguments and subject topics attached to the field of journalism, some may agree and some may not agree. It gets really difficult for people to join some other field but gets simple as they dig deeper and if they are serious about taking up that profession, believe me – THEY WILL. Blogging is good for Journalists who are passionate writers and want to create their own position, hard work never goes in vain – Struggle is the key to lasting success, so go ahead and get organized your plans right away!
